NEW HANGAR OPENING

Saturday August 14th saw the new Hangar of Air Nelson opening up to the public before its use commences next week.
The old HQ of this SQN was demolished in the process to enable the new administration block to be constructed along with the much larger Hangar itself.

Cadets from 23SQN provided car parking and marshalling duties on the day which saw at least 5000 people through the new Hangar. Our Cadets did a fantastic job and can hold their heads up high that they performed well and proved excellent ambassadors for 23SQN

Special mention must be made of U/O James Russell for performing in the role of 2/IC and first point of contact for motorists before being advsied of their parking options. He did so without incident and in good orderly fashion whilst working under pressure. And when he wasnt in the role, CPL James Quickfall filled in and carried out his duties in the same fashion.

A final special mention must be made of SGT Phillippa Wood who was the main Car Parking Co-ordiantor for the day and worked under often difficult and trying circumstances. Without her coordination of the Cadets and the motorists, things would have been disastrous. She performed above and beyond the call of duty and indeed without these 3 NCO's, the day would not have been the success it was for not only 23SQN; but for all of the people who visted the new hangar and Air Nelson itself.

To everyone who participated, our Unit thanks you and I personally thank you.

To those of you who got photos taken in the co-pilots seat of the King Air, the photos look good!
